Duke E. Cameron, and the AATS Program Chairs have organized an engaging social program for the AATS 98th Annual Meeting.
There will be a social event or tour that offers something special for everyone.

AATS and AmSECT Welcome Reception

Admission to this event is complimentary to all registered attendees and exhibitors of both the AATS and AmSECT meetings.


 Join the AATS and AmSECT, for the official open to this year’s meeting. Visit with valued exhibitors and supporters in the Exhibit Hall where you will learn cutting edge techniques, and discover groundbreaking new products while networking with other attendees.
The AATS and AmSECT Exhibition offers a number of exciting learning opportunities:

  • AATS CT Theaters including Deep Dive presentations, which take a closer look at the top papers presented at the AATS Annual Meeting along with presentations from our industry partners.

  • AATS Resident Poster Competition
  • Perioperative/Team-Based Care Poster Competition to learn about successful and innovative approaches in the management of the cardiothoracic patient.



AATS President’s Dinner

Cost: $125 per person.  All registered attendees are welcome to buy tickets to attend.
While you are at the AATS 98th Annual Meeting, enjoy an elegant evening of dinner and entertainment at the AATS President’s Dinner, with special guest, Jimmy Kimmel. Take the opportunity to socialize with your peers and interact with the most prominent members of the field while experiencing one of the premier event locations in San Diego, the Sapphire Ballroom in the Hilton Bayfront Hotel.  Tickets are $125 a piece for this celebration on Monday, April 30. Tickets are limited.  Business Attire.



Tours require a minimum number of participants. All tours will depart from the San Diego Convention Center. 

Tour 1
Birch Aquarium, Coast Walk and Shopping in La Jolla with Lunch
Sunday, April 29, 2018
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Cost: $140 per person 


Guest will travel by deluxe motor coach to La Jolla, CA, just north of San Diego. At the Birch Aquarium, perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, guests will join a one hour guided tour to explore more than 60 habitats of fishes and invertebrates from the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest to the tropical waters of Mexico and beyond at the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. The guide will point out highlights of the museum as well as answer questions on the various museum showcases including research discoveries by Scripps Oceanography scientists on climate, earth and ocean science. 

Guided by a private docent, the tour continues with a coast walk at one of the most beautiful and diverse meetings of land and see in the world. Guests will enjoy the invigorating salt air and admire the dramatic settings while learning about the local beaches, history and wildlife. The walk will not exceed two miles.  Time will be allotted for guests to visit downtown La Jolla for shopping.

Tour 2
Guided Coronado Island Walking Tour with Wine Tasting

1:00 PM – 5:00 PM 
Cost: $100 per person 

Guests will enjoy a full narrated scenic ride by deluxe motor coach over the beautiful San Diego Bay for a journey through time and history in Coronado, “The Crown City”. Take in the craftsman-style homes, scenic beaches and the grandest seaside resort of them all – the breathtaking Hotel Del Coronado. The “Del’s” charmed history includes the Duke of Windsor and Marilyn Monroe. Guests will have the chance to stroll down the boardwalk to marvel at the waterfront mansions and the house where The Wizard of Oz was written. 

The day is not complete without a stop to “Wine A Bit”. The expert staff will lead guests through a wine tasting including a variety of white, red and sparkling wines. Guests will be able to enjoy the wine and light snacks while learning about the wine culture in California.
