Scholarships

Medical students, residents and surgeons in the early part of their careers can apply for poster competitions, scholarships, travel awards, grants and fellowships from the AATS and the AATS Foundation.  The awards with deadlines listed are currently accepting applications.

Every Heartbeat Matters Valve Fellowship

The AATS Foundation is proud to have received a grant from Edwards Lifesciences Foundation for this fellowship as part of its Every Heartbeat Matters initiativeThe mission of the Edwards program is to reduce the prevalence of valvular heart diseases (VHD) by enhancing education, screening and treatment for one million underserved people throughout the world — individuals who have a health disparity as defined by the CDC* and lack awareness of, or access to, medically appropriate heart valve-related healthcare. 

Evarts A. Graham Memorial Traveling Fellowship, 2018-2019

The Evarts A. Graham Memorial Traveling Fellowship was established in 1951 by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery for the purpose of supporting study within North America by promising young academic cardiothoracic surgeons from outside the region to broaden their overall training and increase international contacts. Since it's inception, 65 individuals from 30 countries have completed the Graham Fellowship.
